Anna Buechin holds a Masters degree in industrial design (1997) from Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Kuenste Stuttgart (Germany).
After graduation she worked as a product designer in the United States (IBM Design Center in Raleigh, NC) and in Germany, where she designed consumer electronics and household appliances as a member of the award-winning design consultancy Design3 in Hamburg.
Anna moved to Canada in 2002 and started working as a senior designer at Toronto housewares manufacturer Umbra. She developed and successfully brought to market over 140 of her designs, many of which have become bestsellers for Umbra. This included items for private label collections for large North American retailers such as Target, Crate& Barrel, the Container Store and many more.
Anna started her own Toronto based industrial design studio in 2008. Her designs have been featured in magazines and design websites, and a few of them have won major design awards.
She is also a certified project manager (University of Toronto) and a professional member of ACIDO (Association of Chartered Industrial Designers of Ontario).
Anna currently works as a senior product designer and accessories design lead at ereading company Rakuten Kobo in Toronto.
